About the Project

Launched in 2025, Building Access and Resource Initiative (BARI) was founded with the humble hope of drawing attention to addressing pressing concerns related to housing access across India, starting with Kolkata. At its heart, our initiative focuses on two pillars: improving housing infrastructure in Kolkata’s informal settlements and empowering children and young adults through key entrepreneurial skills, helping them feel confident enough to lead community-level interventions. Access to a safe, stable house should be every citizen’s right, and BARI aims to further this cause – one family, one neighbourhood, and one city at a time.
